This is huge month for the Fredericksburg Patriots. I am pleased to announce we will be hosting candidate forums to allow local voters the opportunity to meet and hear from our 2012 United States Senate candidates. This unique event, buidling on our goals of educating citizens and expanding our influence, will allow each candidate to have their own 60 minute forum (not a debate...each candidate will have their own day). The forums will start with a 10 minute introduction where candidates can share some personal information about who they are and why they are running along with their vision/plan for Virginia and the United States. That will be followed by a 30 minute question and answer session. Questions will be gathered ahead of time and will be posed by a panel of those hosting the event. The event will conclude with a 20 minute meet and greet. These events are designed to be educational and informative. Currently, we have attendance confirmation from every candidate except for Tim Kaine (though we are working with his office on possible dates). For Republicans, the forum will be co-hosted by the Spotsylvania GOP. For Democrats, we have invited the Stafford Democratic Committee to co-host. I strongly encourage you to attend every forum. Our ability to generate an audience, regardless of the candidate's party affiliation, demonstrates our influence in the community and our passion for ideas and honest debate across the political spectrum. The questions we pose to the candidates will be built based on input from you and other like-minded citizens throughout our community. To submit potential questions, contact Bryce Thorpe at baldbryce@yahoo.com. If and when the Fredericksburg Patriots provide an endorsement, it will be after having heard every candidate. We will be the model for informed voting. I hope you will join me in attendance and share this information among your circles of influence. We ARE making a difference. Thank you!! |
