[Peninsula-Patriots] Dinner - Eat & Meet - 6/17 meeting

For those of you who do not check the "Meet Up" site regularly,  our Monthly Meeting will be different for June - we are taking reservations because it will be a  "dinner meeting" on June 17th.  We will have a new location for this meeting:  Middlesex Sportsmans Hunt Club, 1834 Twigg Ferry Rd, Hartfield, VA 23071.   Coming from Gloucester and Mathews cross over the Piankatank Bridge and stay on this road until destination on the right.

RSVP is necessary this time as we need to plan ahead.   I have 14 RSVPs so far.  The deadline is June 10th -  Chef Jay is going to prepare a delicious meal.  The cost is $15/person.  You may email me at ruth1860@aol.com if you don't want to go to the meet-up site.   Dinner starts at 6:00 pm and the meeting starts at 7:00 pm.   Not necessary to RSVP for the meeting only at 7 pm.  Come if you can.

Menu:
House Salad
Baked Chicken Breast with Jack Daniels Mushroom Sauce
Roasted potatoes
Roasted Fresh Local Vegetable Medley with Cranberries
Rolls
Cup Cakes for Dessert
Ice Tea and Water

Other beverages will be available for a small fee ($1)

This is an evening of firsts for us - trying out a new location and a served dinner!!   It should be great fun and a time to get to know each other.

Meet Our Winning Matters 2013 Team

Meet Our Winning Matters 2013 Team

This year, Virginia is the only state in the nation with competitive statewide elections.  In November, Virginians will be voting for a new Governor, Lt. Governor and Attorney General.  Additionally, all 100 members of the House of Delegates are also up for election.  Typically, there is a vast difference in the positions that candidates take on issues important to Christians and this year will be no different.

Too often, whether because of apathy or lack of education on the issues and candidates, those with a biblical worldview fail to show up at the polls on Election Day.  This is especially true in Virginia where we elect our state-level candidates in the odd years.  For this reason, The Family Foundation and our sister organization, The Family Foundation Action are pleased to announce Winning Matters 2013, a four-step action plan to make sure that people of faith are educated, registered and motivated to vote their values on November 5th. The four components of Winning Matters 2013 are:

1)    Identify more Virginians who share our values.

2)    Turn concerned citizens into value-voting Virginians by registering them.

3)    Educate registered voters on the differences between candidates on matters of life, marriage, parental authority, religious liberty and constitutional government.

4)    Motivate and mobilize these informed voters to make a wise choice and vote on Election Day.

To help us accomplish these goals, we have hired a Project Manager and four Area Coordinators to work in the Northern Virginia, Richmond and Tidewater areas.  If you live in one of these areas, their contact information is provided below.  Please email them and let them know you would like to help.

David Moxley is our Winning Matters 2013 Project Manager and will be overseeing the effort between now and Election Day.  David is a native of Virginia and a graduate of Roanoke College, where he studied international relations. David brings significant event, media, business, and personnel management experience from his pursuits in the hospitality industry. David is thrilled for the opportunity to utilize his particular skillset and Christian faith to serve the families of the Commonwealth. David is a resident of Manassas, Virginia where he attends Manassas Baptist Church.

Meet our Area Coordinators

NOVA - Alexandria, parts of Fairfax and Prince William Counties

Kristin Handy - Kristin grew up in Gloucester, Virginia. She has a heart for children and being actively involved in the pro-life movement. Wanting to get a Biblical foundation in her higher learning education, Kristin went to Liberty University in the fall of 2010. At Liberty she studied Government majoring in Politics and Policy. Jumping right into conservative clubs on campus, Kristin quickly set out to do all she could to make a positive impact in the lives of people and their values in Virginia.  She graduated in May of 2013. Contact Kristin at kristin@familyfoundation.org

NOVA - Arlington, Loudoun, Manassas, parts of Fairfax and Prince William Counties

Travis Taylor - A Christian, husband, and father, Travis is a native of Northeast Oklahoma.  Travis believes in the principles of protecting life, defending our Constitution, promoting traditional values, and a limited government.  He served four years in the Army and two years in law enforcement before becoming active in politics.  Travis holds a Bachelor’s Degree from the University of Louisiana and is pursuing a Master’s Degree from George Washington University.  He resides in Arlington with his wife, Stephanie, where they are active members of McLean Bible Church’s Bethesda campus. Contact Travis at travis@familyfoundation.org

Richmond

Ron Gallagher – Ron, a Virginia native, and his wife, Diane, reside in Mechanicsville.  They are members of Grove Avenue Baptist Church and provide leadership in home group ministry training and facilitation.  They have been extensively involved with The Truth Project and also train and facilitate Marriage Oneness, a relationship strengthening series.  Ron and Diane spent approximately five years in Alaska, serving as ‘tent-maker’ missionaries.  Ron holds undergraduate and seminary degrees from Liberty University and an Ed.S degree from the College of William and Mary.  According to Ron, not to be engaged is not in the list of options.  “I love The Family Foundation,” Ron loves to declare, “but my involvement with them is not for me.  I have six grandsons, and in addition to my own obedience to God, I owe it to them to do everything I can to preserve their freedom to worship God and their opportunity to achieve the American dream.”  Contact Ron at ron@familyfoundation.org

Tidewater

Dylan Kennedy - Dylan is a recent honors graduate of Bridgewater College with a BA in International Studies and a minor in Peace Studies. In his past, he has been involved with youth development, public speaking and non-profit efforts to alleviate poverty. [Peninsula-Patriots] Fwd: WOW ~ This is a man to keep an eye on !

Thanks Ted for sending this youtube video below of EW Jackson convention speech.  You can see why those of us who attended the convention (and you can see the crowd in the video) were so thrilled to vote this man in as candidate for Lt. Governor.   We had the continued enthusiasm even after 4 rounds of voting from 1 pm to 9 pm.   It was worth it.   He won overwhelmingly on each round.  We are on the right path patriots.   Keep up the good work and now let's get him elected in November!  He will likely have resistance from the GOP as well as from the Democrats.   Change will not be easy.  We can no longer be passive.  We will need "boots on the ground" to win this.  We are trying to raise funds for the campaign starting with Yard Sales so come on out and have some fun, too.  See the meet-up events on the homepage.

This is the man elected at the Virgina Republican Party convention earlier this month for Lt. Governor.  I have not seen this level of charisma and basic conservative values in a Republican candidate since Ronald Reagan.  It is time to stop with the middle-of-the-road, boring, old men (e.g., John McCain) and get some enthusiasm in our base as well as in those independents and minorities who are tired of the Left by now.  I believe this man can do it.

Ted

So glad this guy is in VA!

Obama Administration and DHS Spying On Veterans

  •
AUTHOR Kristin Tate
May 28, 2013 8:09am PST

Iraq and Afghanistan veterans have had their privacy rights violated by the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), who calls the targeted vets "suspected terrorist".
What a nice way to thank those who fought tirelessly for our country… Good grief.
The Department of Homeland Security and FBI have been monitoring white supremacists and "militia/sovereign-citizen extremist groups" for terrorist activities since 2009. Somehow, Iraq and Afghanistan veterans have fallen into these closely-watched groups, on the grounds that they are possible terrorists.
This is all done through a program called "Operation Vigilant Eagle". When the program began, it caused some controversy but was quickly forgotten and dropped by the mainstream media. Janet Napolitano, Homeland Security secretary told NBC in an interview, "This is an assessment of things just to be wary of, not to infringe on constitutional rights, certainly not to malign our veterans."
In February 2009 (shortly after Obama's inauguration), a Vigilant Eagle memo was put out, saying the purpose of the program was to "share information regarding Iraqi and Afghanistan war veterans whose involvement in white supremacy and/or militia sovereign citizen extremist groups poses a domestic terrorism threat."
Janet+Napolitano+Testifies+Before+Senate+Appropriations+Kr19x-As_0wl
Since President Obama stepped into office, the DHS has issued several reports about a "wave of terrorism" by Republicans  – these reports have targeted all levels of conservatives from off-duty cops to Tea Party members. Vigilant Eagle is merely an unjust expression of these partisan preferences within the DHS.
Brandon Raub, a Marine vet, was arrested last year by FBI and Secret Service agents. He was then held for a week at a psychiatric facility… All because the vet complained about the government in blogs and on Facebook.
Then I guess I should be taken away too — I've made blogging about the government my fulltime job!
One of Raub's "questionable" posts read, "The United States was meant to lead the charge against injustice, but through our example not our force. People do not respond to having liberty and freedom forced on them."
Wow, I really feel like I'm in imminent danger after reading that…
raub
Raub was finally released when a judge decided that the case against him was "devoid of any factual allegations." Gee, really took a genius to figure that out. It is crystal clear that Raub's arrest was Operation Vigilant Eagle's attempt to stop him from criticizing the government.
Since his release, Raub has been contacted by numerous other veterans with similar stories.
The Obama Administration has managed to criminalize those in our society who should instead be honored as heros: our veterans. We cannot let this administration continue to steal freedom from our vets. Something must be done to stop this, and someone must be held accountable — are you listening, Janet Napolitano?

[Peninsula-Patriots] A national police force ? Monitored TP IRS Protests!!

THANKS SUE -  I wonder how many more agencies are trying to work against us?
Ruth

Homeland Security "Police" Monitored Tea Party IRS Protests

Agents from the Department of Homeland Security posing as national "police" were deployed across the country last week to monitor and intimidate Tea Party activists.  For more details:

This is one example of why it is so critical that our law enforcement be controlled at the local level. What can you do?

  • If you haven't already, sign up to be a sponsor of  the Support Your Local Police Committee.  See the attachments as to why you should and how to do so.

  • Ask others to sign up as well.

  • Share the article above with the uneducated.

  • Next Saturday,  June 1, on Main street in Mathews, there will be a car show with large numbers of people attending. We will be passing out the enclosed fliers to passers-by. And, we need volunteers to help do this. All you would do would be to stand on public territory (the side walk) and give to people as they go by.  No need to engage in conversation.  You can work whatever time frame you want and do it only as long as you want.  Please let me know if you think you could help.

Thank you,   Sue Long

[Peninsula-Patriots] Wall Street Journal

I received an email from Andy this morning containing the following:

Bishop Jackson was the topic of an article in this mornings Wall Street Journal. The article was not complimentary. The piece sought to distance Bishop Jackson from the mainline Republican party. This article portrayed him as a rabid right winger and directed derision to Mr Jackson's comments regarding Planned Parenthood, gays and lesbians etc. Bishop Jackson was quoted as having described Barack Obama as one of evil. Yes this piece sought to demean Bishop Jackson and his message. In my opinion it is just this stand that has garnered him this outpouring of support. I firmly believe that most people are fed up with the political posturing, the lies, innuendo, and seek out someone who has the courage to speak the truth, If you can access the Wall Street Journal I urge you to do so. This is an inflammatory article. Bishop Jacksons enemies are aligning themselves against him and those who are supporting him. He needs our support, unfortunately none of us has any syay over what the Journal publishes, though I do expect there are many others that hold our views on the matter.

DeWitt,

I am sending emails to our Virginia Congressional Delegation see below:

"Why have you not encouraged the appointment of a special council to investigate 1. Benghazi, the IRS and the AP and FOX news scandal or IMPEACHMENT proceedings against OBAMA. SOMEONE OR MANY PEOPLE INVOLVED IN THESE SITUATIONS MUST GO TO JAIL!!!!!!!!!
Why????
On June 13, 2012, Gohmert was one of five members of Congress (including Michele Bachmann, Trent Franks, Tom Rooney, Lynn Westmoreland) to send letters to the Inspectors General[38] of the Office of the Director of National Intelligence, the Department of Defense, the Department of Homeland Security, the Department of Justice and the Department of State seeking investigations into what they claimed was the U.S. government's involvement with the Muslim Brotherhood.
One of the letters in particular to Ambassador Harold W. Geisel, the Deputy Inspector General of the United States Department of State, used the Department's Deputy Chief of Staff, Huma Abedin, as an example of the undue influence. The letter said that Abedin "has three family members–her late father, her mother and her brother–connected to Muslim Brotherhood operatives and/or organizations," referring to a study by the Center for Security Policy.[39][40][41]
WHY HAVE YOU NOT INVESTIGATED THIS YOURSELF AND SUPPORTED THE REPRESENTATIVES WHO ARE CONCERNED ABOUT THE SAFETY OF THIS COUNTRY AND ITS CITIZENS??? WHY????
Do you like your position in Washington the PEOPLE of Virginia made possible for you to have. Then get busy and defend us!!!"

When I went to Rigell's site a box came up asking me if I wanted a Balanced Budget Amendment. It required a  vote of yes or no. We need to alert ALL Virginians this is related to the Constitutional Convention that our General Assembly was trying to pass in the last session. http://lis.virginia.gov/cgi-bin/legp604.exe?131+ful+HJ565H1 This Resolution failed by only 3 THREE votes. Go to ALEX-EXPOSED to see if Rigell is a member of this group who is pushing for a Constitutional Convention. We won't have a Constitution if this happens!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Thanks to Marilyn Rainville for sending this. We have a great slate of candidates for the upcoming election in Virginia. Please support them. Remember, liberals tried to convince the electorate that the Tea Party was dead. They were as wrong about that as they are about most things. Let us show them how alive we are in November.

[Peninsula-Patriots] Fwd: Four Important Things: Two for Virginia (One Specific to Spotsylvania) and Two for EVERYONE! 

FYI Patriots - read all the way through for good information even though some things don't apply for us.   Scott Cooper is an active patriot and used to be a member of the VTTP Federation.

Good Morning Ruth:

1.       As we approach Memorial Day, I wanted to share with you something I wrote last Memorial Day.  Let us not simply remember our dead on Monday, let us HONOR them by engaging in the current war – which is internal.  Please click here to read my thoughts LAST Memorial Day!

2.       SPOTSYLVANIA, VA - The fight to restore our republic doesn't start at the Whitehouse.  It starts locally.  For my friends in Spotsylvania County (my old residence), tomorrow night – Thursday May 23, 2013 is the Republican Mass Meeting.  At that meeting, they will nominate candidates that will represent "Conservative Values" in the 2013 LOCAL elections (3 Supervisors and 3 School Board Members.  ALL REGISTERED VOTERS MAY PARTICIPATE!  I strongly recommend you attend this meeting, and be there at 7 PM or earlier to register.   Bring your voter ID card with you to expedite registration.

                Marshall Center Auditorium
                8800 Courthouse Road
                Spotsylvania, VA  22553

Running for Board of Supervisors for THE BERKLEY DISTRICT is a dear friend of mine, John Blincoe.  He is a STRONG CHRISTIAN CONSERVATIVE in ALL areas.  He is being challenged by another individual for the nomination, and we need ALL CONSERVATES to come out and vote for John Blincoe.

Folks – this is where the battle starts – locally, so I sincerely hope that if you live in Spotsylvania, you will come out tomorrow night.  If you live in the Berkley District, please vote for John Blincoe.  Please e-mail me if you would like his Biography sent to you.  If you do not know what district you live in, please click here to find out!

PLEASE SHARE THIS INFORMATION WITH ALL YOUR FRIENDS IN SPOTSYLVANIA COUNTY – THIS IS IMPORTANT!  THANK YOU!

3.       VIRGINIA - Many of you know that Jim DeMint decided at the end of last year that he could better use his influence by helping to build the Grassroots Conservative Movement that is required to fix Washington by heading up The Heritage Foundation vs. being a U.S. Senator.

Now that I am in South Carolina, I couldn't be more pleased with the man that was chosen to fill his seat, Senator Tim Scott.

Jim DeMint is doing a series of events in Virginia, that I would strongly encourage you to participate in.  The entire purpose of these Events are to engage the grassroots with the Policy Experts that Heritage is so well known for.  There are three geographical areas covered – I hope      you can participate in the one closest to you!

a.       Wednesday June 5, 2013, 7 PM – Town Hall with Jim DeMint at The Westin, in Virginia Beach Town Center.  Click Here to R.S.V.P. and for details!  You can also e-mail YoungLeadersProgram@Heritage.org or call (202) 608-1539.

b.      Thursday June 5, 2013 – 6 PM – Town Hall with Jim DeMint at Selba in Richmond, VA.  Click here to R.S.V.P. and for details!  You can also e-mail YoungLeadersProgram@Heritage.org or call (202) 608-1539.

c.       Friday June 6th, 2013 – Town Hall with Jim DeMint at The Sheraton Roanoke Hotel and Conference Center in Roanoke, VA.  Click here to R.S.V.P. and for details!  You can also e-mail YoungLeadersProgram@Heritage.org or call (202) 608-1539.

Any questions you have about these or any of Heritage Action Programs – please reach out to Melody Himel Scalley, with Heritage Action at 757-678-7200.

4.       IMPORTANT NEW BOOKDiana West has written an exceptional new book titled American Betrayal, which I would highly recommend.  Tom Trento of United West interviewed her on Monday about her book, and it is an interview I would highly recommend hearing – because it will educate you on several important issues of the day.  After hearing the interview, you will want to read the book.  Please click here to listen to Tom Trento's Interview with Diana West!

In closing, many have called or e-mailed me to ask what I am working on these days, specifically in the civic arena, since I have been "quiet" on most things since the election.

I remain active in the Conservative Grassroots Movement which is focusing on Constitutionally Limited Government, Fiscal Responsibility and Free Markets; however I have devoted quite a bit of time studying national security issues, and am devoting all the time I can supporting my father in his efforts at High Frontier.  Both my father and I would appreciate any support you can provide us in this area.  Some of you will be receiving a more detailed letter on my efforts there in the near future.  If you would like to receive that e-mail, please let me know!  To get some specifics on what High Frontier is currently working on, please watch this video, and visit our website!

I trust you are doing well, and I hope you have a blessed Memorial Day Weekend.  We do indeed have a lot to be thankful for, as we celebrate the lives of the men and women who came before us, to provide us the liberty we enjoy today.

Blessings,
Scott Cooper
