Our soveriegnty is at stake.

Dear Fellow Patriot,

Although there is some talk about trade agreements, there is far more at stake than what is in the news (including Fox)  that we are not being told.  Our sovereignty is at stake.

Please consider the report below and follow up with phone calls and emails.

Thank you very much.

The Trade Promotion Authority (TPA)

Constitutionally, only Congress has the authority to determine our trade policies, and the Senate must vote on treaties in order for them to be ratified. The Constitution is our rule book, but all too often, it is ignored.

That happened in 2015, when Congress gave Trade Promotion Authority (TPA) to then-President Obama, allowing him, alone, to enter into trade agreements. It is an unconscionable abdication of constitutional responsibility by Congress, giving the President powers regarding trade that belong to Congress.  Also, the TPA gives the transfer of immense power to federal and international judges to eviscerate the Constitution - to strike down federal, state, and local laws and to legislate from the bench.

When the TPA was passed, the objective was the passage of the Trans-Pacific Partnership, a treaty that diminishes our sovereignty. There were not enough votes to get it passed in the Senate as a treaty, so it was referred to as an "agreement", circumventing the necessary vote by the Senate. With the passage of TPA, President Obama was able to sign off on the Trans-Pacific Partnership.  Fortunately, President Trump rescinded it.

The Trade Promotion Authority (TPA) has an expiration date of June 30, 2018. The expiration is automatic, unless President Trump requests an extension, which would extend it for another three years. If this were to happen, these powers would not just be extended to President Trump, but would potentially be given to his successor as well.

Under Article I, Section 8, Clause 3, Congress could, and certainly should, reassert its constitutional authority of regulating commerce with foreign nations by preventing a future TPA.  All that is necessary is for the majority of one legislative chamber of Congress (either the House or Senate) to pass an Extension Disapproval Resolution.

The TPA is essential to the passage of a renegotiated  North American Free Trade Agreement  (NAFTA), as well as to the potential passage of other sovereignty-killing "free trade" agreements like TTIP ( Transatlantic Trade and investment Partnership) , which are on the drawing board ready to be ratified and diminish our sovereignty.     NAFTA is the  forerunner to the North American Union (NAU), which would combine Canada, America and Mexico into one regional government with no borders.  Our Constitution, with its protections of our God-given rights, would be history.

Without the Trade Promotion Authority, a newly renegotiated NAFTA would likely not pass out of Congress. And, stopping Congressional approval of a renegotiated NAFTA would set the stage for influencing Congress to get the U.S. completely out of NAFTA. Little could be better for the American people and our national sovereignty than for the U.S to withdrawal from the sovereignty-destroying NAFTA treaty.  In 1993, when the NAFTA agreement was being considered by Congress, Henry Kissinger wrote an article for the Los Angeles Times entitled "With NAFTA, U.S. Finally Creates a New World Order." He goes on, referring to NAFTA as "the most creative step toward a new world order taken by any group of countries since the end of the Cold War," and stated further that it "is not a conventional trade agreement, but the architecture of a new international system." That says it all.

We can take a lesson from the European Union (EU). Prior to the EU, the nations of Europe were all independent sovereign nations.   They were sold on the EU, thinking that it was just an agreement for better trade. Once caught in the web of deception, they learned that they had lost their sovereignty. We can avoid making the same mistake.

Please phone your representative (202-225-3121) and senators (202-224-3121) and tell them, or someone on the staff, why they should disapprove of extending the Trade Promotion Authority and ask them to sponsor and ultimately pass an Extension Disapproval Resolution for the Trade Promotion Authority (TPA).  Then, send them an email to add to the influence.  Send another email if you get the usual generic say-nothing-in-a-lot-of-words reply.
