Re: [Peninsula-Patriots] think before you buy!

I support Chick-fil-A because they are a Christian-owned company which is the original reason that I gave Dorothy and Brian Bayford my business to bring water into my new house and soften it. They represent who I am and I am confident that some of the monies that I spend with these folks will alos wind up in churches and charities that I support, whereas Home Depot has a dude dressed up like a builder that hands out condoms at gay-pride parades! As an American Patriot I will not give my money to outfits like Proggressive Insurance whose owner is a communist/communist contributor.
I do not agree with govt. getting involved with who may operate a business in their town based on their beliefs though. The difference is HUGE!!!
I will support whom I will with my wealth even though the ahem-pres. says "You didn't build that". I beg to differ, I doubt if any of these namby-pambies have permanent callouses on their hands from clamming or x-rays that look like mine from the work I have endured to build what I have and only with God's help have I passed my capt.'s exams.

In response to Pat's E-mail, Individuals have every right to support companies with whom they agree and vice versa.  If someone has a problem with a company's viewpoint, they don't have to spend their money there.  In the Chick-Fil-A situation, the problem was that Mayors like Rahm Emmanuel in Chicago threatened to prevent Chick-Fil-A from doing business in their cities.   I believe that is unconstitutional.  It is my interpretation that  "Chick-Fil-A Appreciation Day" was about supporting free speech without fear of repercussions  from Public Officials.

I totally understand our Patriots' desire to support organizations who contribute to Repubs, and not support organizations who contribute to Dems.  However, an interesting comparison from recent history has occurred to me.  Recently, the GBLT community criticized and boycotted Chic-Fil-A because of that organizations' financial contributions.   Did not thousands of Conservatives across this country rally to strongly object to boycotting a business simply because that business contributed money to an organization with which the boycotters did not agree?  Patriotic conservatives articulated and supported the right of a business to contribute money to whatever cause/group they choose.  While this current discussion is interesting and informative, it would serve us well to consider whether we are applying conservative principles equally, regardless of our opinions.  Is "boycotting" a business based on percentage of political contributions any different than the BGLT community boycotting a business based on its view of GBLT issues?  If the issue is freedom of speech, then we must ask ourselves if we believe in that freedom for ALL, or only for those who agree with us.  It's a slippery slope, my friends.  From now until the election it will be a difficult and emotional time.  It is important (no, it is critical) that we all stand above the fray and apply our principles equally, and with integrity, not based on emotion or bias.

As long as we are on insurance, don't forget that Progressive Insurance (you know, the the TV ads featuring the ditz, dressed all in white) lives up to its name with large contribution to liberal candidates and causes.

I would love to pass this on but need to see where this information originated. Need to check it out. Can't seem to find anything on "Center for Responsive Politics," "Shopping."
