This is to advise everyone of the fact that the last two functioning Tea Parties on the Northern Neck are now defunct.
ReplyDelete99th District Tea Party (Northumberland and Lancaster counties)
Montross Tea Party (Westmoreland and Northumberland counties)
The 99th went out of business in late summer 2015 as a result of the then-president Don Johnson's antics at a local candidates' forum in which he cut off questioners, belittled questioners, and interrupted candidates. In early 2016, the 99th held a meeting featuring a disgraced FBI agent who claimed Obama was a "closet Muslim" and CIA Director Brennan had converted to Islam. The few members remaining finally relieved Johnson of the presidency, no one stepped up to take his place, thus, the 99th District Tea Party folded.
The Montross Tea Party keeps a Facebook page and Twitter account active, however, they just announced they will not hold any more meetings. Instead, the "board" will meet from time to time and call a meeting if need be. For 2016, meetings attracted 6 - 8 people and their "patriotic" events on the Montross town square were attracting tiny crowds.
In July 2016, the two parties attempted to form the First District Freedom Coalition, however their first meeting was to feature another raving anti-Mulsim scam artist. Prospective members wanted to focus on serious issues, as a result the first meeting was cancelled and the FDFC is no more -- Facebook is down.
