RE: H.R. 822 moves to Senate

Ladies and Gentlemen,

There is a remedy to this issue. At least here in Virginia.

These elected officials (and many citizens) would cringe at the idea that all handgun owners began carrying our weapons exposed.

When gun-owners "come out of the closet" these fair weather constitutionalists will be unable to deal with the idea of thousands of Virginians wandering the streets as though they are going to engage in a gun battle at any moment. The hue and cry from the "threatened citizenry" will require them to take this issue up for action.

Now, potentially that would mean that they would outlaw our carry entirely but let's get a dose of reality here. We all know that this is where this issue is headed anyway. It is time to start forcing their hand on this matter. We must make them act to take away our guns now and get this fight on rather than allowing them to take them away in a gradual and somewhat benign process. Allowing them to do that is the example we have all heard of "how do you boil a frog?".

Semper Fidelis.

Craig Hudgins

A year from now, the study will come back stating that the only way to "verify" out-of-state permits is through federally-mandated biometric requirements for concealed firearm permits and Congress "must" create a nationally administered database of all concealed weapon permit holders.

I would support legislation that gets the federal government out of the way of states that want to recognize other states' concealed carry permits. In contrast, H R 822 will hurt gun rights by conceding broad new authority to the federal government to override state sovereignty.
