[Peninsula-Patriots] Important legislation

Forwarded from our Patriot Sue Long:

Dear Fellow Patriot,
The Virginia General Assembly will be convening soon, so it is important to take action right away.
Two bills are being introduced. that call for a Constitutional Convention. (Con Con.)
HJ 565 has been introduced by Le Munyon (Fairfax), calling for a Con Con for a balanced budget. A second bill, HB 1421, is now in the hopper. Pogge is the chief patron. This one deals with how Virginia would select and handle delegates to a Con Con.
This idea for a quick fix sounds promising - and the goal is a worthy one - but this is a matter that calls for more scrutiny.
It is mostly Republicans who are now promoting this - and the Democrats who are opposing. All of which is most interesting since the last vote on it was just the opposite. That time the Republicans voted and passed legislation that rescinded a call for a Con Con that had previously been voted on and passed by Democrats. So both parties have switched their stand on this.
Please read and consider the attachment and then contact your state legislators and ask them not to vote for a Con Con and to the governor not to sign off on it or promote it.
As always, you are greatly appreciated for taking the time to study the issues, and for taking action to preserve the precious freedoms we have been so very privileged to inherit.
Sue Long
